BrOffice.org Magazine has English version

Translations highlight BrOffice.org Magazine internationally. They are available for free download

Magazine 1 and 9 of the BrOffice.org just received a version in English. The translation project of the Brazilian publication was completed in record time and became available for presentation at the OpenOffice.org Conference, held between August 31 to September 3 in Budapest. The event is the most important annual international calendar and brings together participants from various countries to discuss the course of OpenOffice.org.

The idea is to share with conference participants the example of an initiative to disseminate the tool, and community involvement. The suite of offices open source, complete in October 10 years of existence, logging more than 300 million downloads. Translated versions were released on Tuesday, 31 together with the 14th edition in Portuguese of Brazil.

The launch of translations mark a new step in the project: the internationalization of the BrOffice.org Magazine. Created as a communication channel of the Brazilian community, the publication's mission is to take readers not only news and reports about BrOffice.org, but also tips and tutorials to assist users of the office suite in their daily tasks.

As the group of volunteers in the translation, the result was very satisfactory: "It's a great pleasure and a privilege to be part of this team," said the electronics technician and administrator, Paulo de Souza Lima. When talking about the organization and group involvement, the doctor Rogerio Luz, who was one of the reviewers, said: "It was not long for me to have not one but two entire magazines to do." For Clovis Tristão, experience provokes more of a challenge: "My intention for the future, would be the translation into English of all the magazines. And being bolder, launching the next editions in Portuguese and English versions, "he says.

The first edition of the Journal, launched in April 2007, has as its main theme the history of BrOffice.org - Brazil project. The publication was called "Zine" until the number 9, when the name was changed to BrOffice.org Magazine as a way to link it more strongly to the brand of the Brazilian project. Published in November 2009, the 9th edition is an overview of the application usage in the country's municipalities, showing the project's importance to the economy, social and digital inclusion in Brazil.
